HC Charteris Gold & Precious Metals Fund
Gold is a foundation asset within any long-term savings or investment portfolio. This is a UCITS fund which invests in gold, silver and blue-chip precious metal mining companies seeking to outperform the XAU Philadelphia Gold Mining Index converted into sterling. The fund was launched in the first quarter of 2010 to invest in gold and gold assets. It hit national headlines after becoming the number one in the UK during the maiden four months of its trading existence. It went on to become the HC Charteris Gold & Precious Metals Fund, as it sought exposure to other precious metals, such as silver. This change in structure helped it achieve the rank of the best performing fund in the UK across all sectors in 2016, when it went up 133.95%.
